Press Release on the Meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Simon Mordue and Magdalena Grono
On April 1, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Deputy Secretary-General for Economic and Global Affairs of the European External Action Service, Simon Mordue, and the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Magdalena Grono.
During the meeting, the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan-European Union (EU) cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, were discussed.
The cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU in areas such as economy, trade, energy security, green energy, and humanitarian matters was reviewed. In particular, the significant role of large-scale projects initiated by Azerbaijan in ensuring Europe’s energy supply and security was emphasized, and the importance of continuing collaboration in both traditional energy sources and alternative energy was underscored.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided detailed information on the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period. He highlighted the large-scale restoration and reconstruction efforts, as well as humanitarian demining activities being carried out in the territories liberated from occupation.
The cooperation with the European Union on demining and determining the fate of missing persons was also discussed.
Despite the progress made in the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization and peace process, it was noted that Armenia's continued territorial claims against Azerbaijan in its Constitution and the rapid militarization of the country pose a threat to the advancement of the peace agenda.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
