Jeyhun Bayramov received European External Action Service delegation

On May 20, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by Olof Skoog, Political Director and Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs at the European External Action Service (EEAS).

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan–European Union relations, regional security issues, the post-conflict situation, and the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as other regional and international matters of mutual interest.

The conversation emphasized the significance of developing political dialogue and cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU across various fields. In this context, the sides highlighted the existing potential for further expanding partnership in energy security, transport connectivity, green energy, and other sectors.

In regard to energy security, Azerbaijan’s role and contribution to the European Union’s energy security were highly praised. The meeting also reviewed projects in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and electricity exports.

To increase and diversify the region’s transport and communication potential, the importance of steps taken to expand infrastructure and create new transport routes was underscored. Furthermore, the parties exchanged views on the ongoing negotiations regarding a new bilateral agreement and the Partnership Priorities document between Azerbaijan and the European Union.

The discussion also turned to efforts aimed at ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region, focusing on issues related to advancing the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The EEAS delegation was extensively informed about the restoration and reconstruction efforts, as well as the ongoing mine threat. In turn, Olof Skoog shared his impressions from his visit to the liberated territories.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
