Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the meeting of Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Deputy Secretary General of NATO Mircea Geoană

During his working visit to Brussels on November 15, 2021, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Deputy Secretary General of NATO Mircea Geoană at NATO Headquarters.

 

At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on topical issues of the NATO-Azerbaijan partnership, future development prospects, as well as regional issues.

 

The Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the results achieved in a number of areas of the Azerbaijan-NATO partnership. He touched upon the contribution of our country to NATO operations in the context of supporting international peace and security. The Minister informed the NATO official about the restoration and reconstruction work carried out by the Government of Azerbaijan in the territories liberated as a result of the Patriotic War. As for the elimination of the factor of the occupation of our lands, it was emphasized that Azerbaijan is ready to normalize relations with Armenia on the basis of the principles of international law.

 

NATO praised Azerbaijan's defense reforms and contribution to NATO missions. The Deputy Secretary General thanked Azerbaijan for its partnership with the Alliance, especially for its participation in the operation in Afghanistan.

 

The sides expressed their readiness to continue political dialogue and practical cooperation in accordance with the goals and principles of the Partnership for Peace Programme.
