Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Chairman of Estonia-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Group Sven Sester

On November 1, 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by the Chairman of Estonia-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Group Sven Sester.

Welcoming the delegation, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted the high-level of cooperation between the two countries and highlighted the importance of bilateral parliamentary dimension in this regard. He emphasized the importance of meetings between the heads of parliaments of the two countries, as well as of the reciprocal bilateral visits. The Minister highlighted that next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and noted that relevant events will be held in this regard.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also voiced the importance of expanding economic and trade cooperation between Azerbaijan and Estonia.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided broad information to his interlocutors on the settlement of the former Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, the 44-Day Patriotic War, the war crimes committed by Armenia during this period, including targeting of civilians, as well as the current situation in the region. He expressed gratitude to Estonia for its support for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity within its international borders. The Minister also spoke about the issues arising from the trilateral statements, as well as the threat of landmines in the region and its grave consequences. He stressed that Azerbaijan is ready to normalize relations with Armenia on the basis of respect for the principles of international law, in particular sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders.

Chairman of Estonia-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Group Sven Sester expressed gratitude to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov for the detailed information. He noted the importance of expanding relations in the framework of international organizations, in addition to the expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries. It was stressed that Estonia’s position on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is unambiguous. Sven Sester noted the importance of mine maps for the rapid development of the liberated areas.  He noted that his delegation would visit the liberated areas to get acquainted with the situation and the restoration and reconstruction works carried out by Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, information on demining activities, restoration and reconstruction works, infrastructure projects currently being carried out in the liberated areas of Azerbaijan and other issues was also provided.
