On 19 October 2021, Ambassador Vaqif Sadıqov, presented his Letters of Credence to the King of the Belgians, His Majesty King Philippe, at the Royal Palace, Brussels.
Following the credential presentation ceremony, Ambassador Sadıqov had an audience with His Majesty King Philippe. During the audience, His Majesty the King congratulated Ambassador Sadıqov on his appointment and wished him success in his future duties.
Ambassador Vaqif Sadıqov conveyed heartfelt greetings and best wishes of President Ilham Aliyev to King Philippe and extended the invitation of the President to His Majesty to visit Azerbaijan at any time of his convenience.
Informing His Majesty about the post-conflict situation after a 44-day war, Ambassador Vaqif Sadıqov mentioned the large-scale reconstruction and rehabilitation works carried out in the liberated territories and strong political will of Azerbaijan to normalize relations with Armenia on the basis of respect for the principles of international law.
Touching upon the energy policy of Azerbaijan and cooperation with the European Union, Ambassador Vaqif Sadıqov spoke about the new dynamics of green energy and informed about the possibilities of transporting hydrogen supplies from Azerbaijan to Europe through the existing natural gas infrastructure.
Emphasizing the importance of further development of cooperation with the Belgian business community, the Ambassador welcomed the participation of Belgian companies in projects in Azerbaijan, including in the restoration work in the liberated territories.
During the audience, His Majesty the King also recalled his meetings with President of Azerbaijan.
Ambassador Vaqif Sadıqov is the fifth Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Belgium after the establishment of Embassy of Azerbaijan in Brussels in 1995.
