Brussels hosts 14th meeting of EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee

The 14th meeting of the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee has kicked off in Brussels.

Azerbaijani MPs led by co-chairman of the committee Javanshir Feyziyev attend the meeting. Apart from the parliamentarians, the Azerbaijani delegation includes members of the government, deputy FM Mahmud Mammadguliyev and department head at the Ministry of Economy Ruslan Rustamli.

Participants in the meeting also include members of the European Parliament, counselors of political groups, as well as senior officials of the European Commission and European External Action Service Dirk Schuebel and Lawrence Meredith.

The agenda of the meeting includes twelve issues.

The first day of the meeting heard speeches from deputy FM Mammadguliyev and Ruslan Rustamli.

Dirk Schuebel described the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Brussels this February as the beginning of a new stage in the EU-Azerbaijan relations. He hailed Azerbaijan as an important partner for the EU.

Meredith pointed out the great potential for economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU.

The meeting then heard a report from Azerbaijani MP Kamran Bayramov on "The political dialogue and reforms in Azerbaijan".
