Applications processing period: Up to 10 working days excluding the day of acceptance of the visa application documents.

 

Payment methods:  
Bancontact/Mister Cash (at the Embassy) or bank transfer. No cash or credit cards accepted. All visa fees must be paid in Euros.
All bank transaction fees (currency conversion and etc.) should be paid by the visa applicant, otherwise visa application cannot be processed. For exact currency exchange rate information, please contact the Consular Section of the Embassy.

Important notices

The relevant visa procedure starts once all the necessary visa application documents are accepted by the Embassy. Incomplete visa application dossiers are not accepted. 

All multiple entry visas inquiries should be sent directly by the Azerbaijani inviting party to the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan for the relevant authorization procedure.

The Consular Section reserves a right to require any additional documents that it considers to be necessary for visa application procedure.

No assurance regarding the issuance of visas can be given in advance. Therefore, the purchase of non-refundable travel tickets should not be made before visa approval is granted.

In accordance with national legislation and subject to the international agreements to which the Republic of Azerbaijan is a party, the Consulate General reserves the right to consider visa applications in certain cases as long as it feels necessary. Visa can be denied if the authorities have reasons to believe that an applicant's entry into or stay in Azerbaijan will not be desirable.

The reimbursement of the payment for different reasons may be carried out only within the month of the execution of the payment. 

Agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Europian Union on the facilitation of the issuance of visas entered into force on 1 September, 2014.

 

Types of visa

Single-entry visa - up to 90 days of validity
Multiple-entry visa - up to two years of validity

 

Applying for a visa

IMPORTANT: All the fields of the application form must be filled out carefully, not missing any information. Incomplete application forms will be returned without processing and may result in denial of your application.

 

The confirmation document shall be accompanied with the following documents:

1) Supporting documents which vary according to the type of visit (see the list below);

2) Original + photocopy of a valid national passport;
    - its validity date must be at least three months beyond the duration of the visa applied for;
    - it has to contain at least two blank pages;

3) Two (2) biometric 3 cm x 4 cm coloured photos with a white background, taken within the last 6 months. Visa application will not be accepted if the photo is not correct as required;

4) Non-Belgian and non-Luxembourg citizens should present Belgian or Luxembourg residency permit (titre de sejour);

5) Copy of the flight reservation;

6) Receipt of the payment / bank transaction statement

Official visit:

Diplomatic Note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium/Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, diplomatic representations and international organizations;

Note: According to the bilateral interstate agreements, for the holders of diplomatic and official (service) passports, mutual visa-free regime is applied between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the countries, listed here.


Business visit:

Letter of invitation from a business counterpart in Azerbaijan (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, purpose of the trip and the duration of applicant's intended stay in Azerbaijan.

Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses.

Tourist visit:

To apply for a tourist visa applicant must present a hotel reservation. Reservation paper must be signed and stamped by the hotel management. Unofficial correspondence (e.g. e-mail messages etc.) with the hotel will not be accepted;

Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses.

For tourists, it is now also possiibe to obtain electronic tourist visa. In order to get such visas issues, tourists should apply to one of the authorized travel agencies in Azerbaijan. For more detailed information about the procedure please click here.

Private visit (visiting family or friends):

Letter of invitation from relatives or friends in the Republic of Azerbaijan, whom the applicant plans to visit submitted together with his/her copy of the national passport or identity card of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses.

Transit visit:

Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses;

Valid entry visa to a country of the main destination;
The validity of transit visa is 30 days.

Changes in the procedures of getting entry visas by foreign citizens and stateless persons upon arrival in the Republic of Azerbaijan

According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 326 dated September 13, 2010, foreign citizens and stateless persons upon their arrival in the Republic of Azerbaijan can get entry visas in the visa sections in the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the following cases:

1. In the cases envisaged in the interstate and intergovernmental treaties of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

2. Persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan by the official invitation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prime-Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Head of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic;

3. Persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan by the official invitation of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the heads of the central executive power bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Chairman (Governor) of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Head of Administrative Department of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Head of Special Medical Service of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the management of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Department, heads of the foreign companies operating in the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with the international treaties  supported by the Republic of Azerbaijan, agreed with the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

4. Members of the diplomatic, administrative and technical staff of the foreign diplomatic missions, consulates, and offices of the international organizations in the Republic of Azerbaijan and their family members, as well as foreign citizens visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan with special diplomatic missions;

5. Persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan by the official invitation of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan to participate in the operations to eliminate the consequences of emergency situations;

6. Persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan due to the death of a family member, on the basis of the relevant confirmation documents;

7. In the cases visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan of the citizens of foreign countries where the diplomatic missions and consulates of the Republic of Azerbaijan are not accredited and having straight air line with the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

Information on changes in the process of issuing visas at the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated on January 31, 2018, # 1803 “On improvement of the process of issuing visas to the foreigners and stateless persons at the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan”

Starting May 15, 2018 the issuance of visas to the foreigners and stateless persons at the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in cases defined in the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan, legal acts of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and interstate and intergovernmental agreements of the Republic of Azerbaijan will be fulfilled electronically through the “ASAN Visa” system.
The issuance of the visas at the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan through “ASAN Visa” system, as well as the processing of all payment related to visas via “ASAN payment” system will be provided by the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Note: Only citizens of USA traveling with New York – Baku flight can be issued 30 (thirty) days visa at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
