The 3rd Suqovuşan International Mini-Football Tournament was held in Brussels
The 3rd Suqovuşan International Mini-Football Tournament was held in Brussels. Combining the spirit of sports, friendship, and cultural exchange, the event brought together representatives of Azerbaijani communities living in various European countries, amateur football players, their family members, diplomats, and numerous fans.
The tournament, organized by the MADANI Platform, has already become one of the largest football events organized by Azerbaijanis in Europe. 24 teams participated in the competition, representing more than 10 countries. Participants coming from various European countries, including Azerbaijani community teams from Sweden and Estonia, once again demonstrated the growing international reputation of the tournament and the power of football to unite people across borders.
The event, organized with the support of the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Belgium and the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora, created a true football festival atmosphere, encompassing not only the football teams but also their family members. Representatives of embassies, diplomatic missions, and international organizations participated in the tournament. Community activists, as well as representatives of the embassies of Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and Kyrgyzstan accredited in Belgium also attended the event.
The participation of the well-known Belgian FIFA referee Frank De Bleecker in the official opening ceremony of the tournament was met with great interest.
Speaking at the event, Emin Aliyev, the founder of the MADANI Platform, emphasized that holding the tournament for the third time is a source of pride: “Suqovuşan is a symbol of tolerance, patience, determination to win, and long-term vision. This initiative, which started as a football tournament, has already turned into a real football holiday. It grows every year, enriches with new elements, and brings together people from different walks of life. Football builds bridges between people, creates new connections, and strengthens friendship. The participation of ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of international organizations, and communities from various European countries is a great source of pride for us.”
During the day, the teams demonstrated high sports ethics, team spirit, and mutual respect both on and off the pitch. The tournament served not only as an arena of competition but also as an important platform for the development of dialogue, networking, and cooperation links among people representing different countries and cultures.
After the final whistle of another successful tournament, the participants departed with new friendships, strengthened connections, and unforgettable memories. This once again confirmed the main motto of the event: “Friendship transcending borders.”
The winner of the 3rd Suqovuşan International Mini-Football Tournament, organized in the Champions League format, was the "Qırğı Belçika FK" team, representing the Azerbaijani community in Belgium.
