Azerbaijani Culture Presented in Belgium
An event dedicated to Azerbaijani culture was organized at the Verviers Conservatory located in the Wallonia region of Belgium, under the organization of the BUTAM Azerbaijani Culture Association operating in Belgium and with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Belgium.
Speaking at the event, Bernard Lange, Director of the Conservatory, emphasized the importance of such cultural initiatives in inter-cultural dialogue.
Yasaman Abbasi, head of BUTAM, provided information about the activities of the organization and expressed her gratitude to the management of the Verviers Conservatory for their cooperation. Michel Ivor, a Belgian expert on intercultural relations, spoke about the rich heritage of Azerbaijani music and the importance of promoting it internationally.
Ambassador Vagif Sadigov highlighted the significance of promoting Azerbaijani culture in Europe and briefed the guests on the developing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Belgium in various fields, including culture.
The event, attended by nearly 150 participants including representatives of the local community, Belgian and foreign guests, featured a comprehensive presentation by the BUTAM association on the history of Azerbaijani music, prominent composers and performers, as well as the art of Mugham and national musical instruments. Within the framework of the event, Azerbaijani national musical instruments – tar, kamancha, and ghaval – were presented as a gift to the Verviers Conservatory.
In the artistic part of the program, national musical pieces were performed by Azerbaijani musicians living in the Netherlands – Sadikh Agamaliyev, Emin Sadikhli, and Javid Salimov. At the same time, national dances performed by the dance group of the "FireLand" Union of Azerbaijanis, another Azerbaijani organization operating in Belgium, were received with great interest and applause by the audience.
The event has been a significant step in terms of promoting Azerbaijan's rich cultural heritage in Belgium and further deepening cultural relations between the two countries.
